Save Our Mangroves Now

I work as an otter conservationist to reverse the decline of mangrove habitats in Vietnam and across the globe to restore biodiversity, protect livelihoods, and mitigate against the impacts of the climate  crisis. Why mangroves matter - Superheroes of biodiversity Survival artists, nature’s kindergarten, climate savers – mangroves are versatile superheroes. They are habitat and nursery for over 3000 fish species, can store 3 to 5 times more carbon per area than tropical upland forests, and provide livelihoods for over 120 million people. But this unique ecosystem is under threat: more than a third of all mangrove forests have disappeared since the mid-20th century due to agriculture, logging, and urbanization. Bàng hoàng sóng biển đánh trôi hai du khách không còn dấu vết


Vào lúc biển đang lây động dữ dội, tại Kê Gà ở Bình Thuận có hai du khách bị sóng đánh lạc mất khi 7 thanh niên đang vui đùa dưới biển. Các lực lượng chức năng tỉnh Bình Thuận huyện Hàm Thuận Nam, Chiều 2/1,, đang tích cực tìm kiếm hai du khách N.T.H. (25 tuổi, ngụ Quảng Bình) và T.B.P. (25 tuổi, ngụ Đắk Lắk) bị mất tích tại biển Kê Gà. Theo chính quyền địa phương, nhóm 7 thanh niên, trong đó có anh H. và anh P., đến xã Tân Thành, huyện Hàm Thuận Nam, để đi phượt vào chiều 1/1. Khoảng 9h ngày 2/1, nhóm du khách đi xe máy đến khu vực biển Kê Gà, xã Tân Thành, để tắm biển. Lúc này, anh H. và anh P. bị sóng lớn cuốn ra biển. Lực lượng chức năng đang tổ chức tìm kiếm các nạn nhân và thông báo cho ngư dân hoạt động trên biển phối hợp tìm kiếm. Bên cạnh đó, nhà chức trách phát lại cảnh báo thời tiết xấu, người dân và du khách hạn chế tắm biển khi sóng to, gió lớn. Các cơ sở lưu trú, kinh doanh du lịch có phương án bảo đảm an toàn cho du khách. Ngày 31/12/2020, Sở VHTT&DL Bình Thuận có công văn khẩn gởi Hiệp hội Du lịch, các ban quản lý du lịch và các cơ sở lưu trú trong toàn tỉnh, đề nghị dừng tất cả hoạt động trên biển trong thời gian biển động. Theo đó, ảnh hưởng của gió mùa Đông Bắc nên vùng biển Bình Thuận có mưa rào và dông. Gió Đông Bắc mạnh cấp 6-7, giật cấp 8-9, biển động mạnh. Vùng ven bờ, gió cấp 4-5, sóng biển cao 1-2 m. Sở VH-TT&DL yêu cầu các ban quản lý khu, điểm du lịch, các cơ sở lưu trú du lịch thường xuyên thông báo tình hình thời tiết cho người dân địa phương, người lao động và du khách. Các cơ sở triển khai phương án ứng phó với gió mạnh, sóng lớn trên biển, có phương án bảo vệ, đảm bảo an toàn về người và tài sản cho du khách.
