Save Our Mangroves Now

I work as an otter conservationist to reverse the decline of mangrove habitats in Vietnam and across the globe to restore biodiversity, protect livelihoods, and mitigate against the impacts of the climate  crisis. They are habitat and nursery for over 3000 fish species, can store 3 to 5 times more carbon per area than tropical upland forests, and provide livelihoods for over 120 million people. But this unique ecosystem is under threat: more than a third of all mangrove forests have disappeared since the mid-20th century due to agriculture, logging, and urbanization. Các công ty Hàn Quốc hâm dọa phạt nhân viên mắc Covid-19



Đe dọa nhân viên rằng việc mắc Covid-19 sẽ làm ảnh hưởng đến kết quả đánh giá cá nhân, một số công ty tại Hàn Quốc đối mặt phản ứng dữ dội. Nhiều nhà hoạt động tại xứ củ sâm nhận định hành động đe dọa, bêu xấu những người nhiễm Covid-19 và cố gắng kiểm soát quá mức cuộc sống cá nhân của nhân viên là vi phạm nhân quyền, theo Korea Times. Một số chính quyền trung ương và địa phương nước này cũng đang bị cáo buộc lạm quyền khi lên kế hoạch khiển trách công chức nếu họ bị nhiễm Covid-19 sau khi không tuân thủ hướng dẫn không tham gia các cuộc họp, sự kiện, bữa trưa hoặc bữa tối không cần thiết. Ngày 16/11, một quản lý của công ty DB Financial Investment đã gửi tin nhắn đe dọa tới tất cả nhân viên công ty sau khi một nhân viên được xác nhận mắc Covid-19. 

"Không thể kỷ luật hay trừng phạt cô ấy chỉ vì cô ấy bị nhiễm bệnh, nhưng chúng tôi sẽ thể hiện sự tác động thông qua hoạt động quản lý nhân sự như đánh giá tiêu cực tùy theo cách cô ấy bị nhiễm bệnh", ông viết. Vị quản lý cũng lưu ý rằng nhiều nhân viên khác đã tự cách ly do tiếp xúc với nữ nhân viên mắc bệnh, có nghĩa là việc này gây ảnh hưởng đến năng suất làm việc ở công ty. Sau phản ứng dữ dội từ nhân viên, DB Financial Investment tuyên bố tin nhắn đó chỉ nhằm khuyến khích nhân viên tuân thủ các quy tắc cách ly để tránh lây lan dịch bệnh. Đồng thời, công ty cho biết nữ nhân viên kia sẽ sớm trở lại làm việc sau khi khỏi bệnh mà không gặp phải bất lợi nào. Vào tháng 2, trong giai đoạn đầu của đợt bùng phát dịch bệnh, Dongwon Home Food và Kyongnam Bank cũng gửi email và tin nhắn cho nhân viên, nói rằng họ sẽ bị khiển trách nếu nhiễm bệnh. “Thông báo gần đây của công ty nói rằng chúng tôi nên điền vào bảng câu hỏi mỗi ngày liên quan đến Covid-19 và công ty sẽ phải chịu trách nhiệm nếu chúng tôi điền bất kỳ thông tin sai lệch nào”, Lee, nhân viên văn phòng 36 tuổi ở Seoul, cho biết. "Thật khó chịu khi đọc thông báo vì nó như là lời cảnh báo ngầm rằng nhân viên sẽ bị trừng phạt nếu nhiễm virus", Jo, nhân viên 29 tuổi tại một công ty nhà nước chia sẻ.

Vietnam’s Coral Reefs Are Dying

Coral reefs around the world have been seriously degraded over the past 20 years and Vietnam’s are no exception. These ecosystems, which are vital to sustaining oceanic biodiversity, are very sensitive to changing ocean temperatures and destructive human activities.
